The biggest gaijin bar in town, equipped with bilingual bartenders, with unsurprisingly a mostly gaijin clientele. Great place to have a beer at decent prices, although occasionally can tend to attract a predominantly male crowd on Friday and Saturday nights. Larry, one of the coolest bartenders in town, will definitely look after you.

Gi the Chinese bartender will make you feel right at home. Especially if you live on a beach, cos Shark attack's claim to fame is that it's got sand on the floor. Pretty cosy place (ie small) but friendly vibe to go with it.

Walking down Shimotori, turn left at the second street after Daiei. Walk up a block, you'll see a seven eleven on the corner. Keep walking straight through the intersection, the entrance to the building is on the right diagnolly across from the konbini. Look for a Shark sign board out the front. It's on the eighth floor.

No cover, 500ml bi-ru for ¥500, cheap as anywhere around.

Must admit that I haven't actually been there at night as yet, but I've been there for a coffee during the day. What you'd expect from a surf bar I guess, with surfboards adorning the roof and other beach paraphanalia hanging off the walls and surfing videos playing in the background. Seems like a cool enough place to have a drink.

Walk to the end of Kamitori (away from Shimotori) until you hit a main road and can't walk any further. Turn right and Breakers is up the road about ten metres on your right.

Pricing

Unknown at this point, although I can tell you that a caffe latte costs ¥350.

Sports bar. The Owner, Shu, is a big football (aka soccer) fan, so has decked out his bar with two impressive looking flat screens and signed up to some serious pay tv. Serie-a, premier league and european matches are shown regularly. Quite a small little joint with a nicely decorated interior and well stocked bar.

Smile 2 Building, BF. Walking down Shimotori, turn right at the second street after Daiei, there's a Pronto cafe on the corner. It's about 40 metres up the road on your left, look for the green chalkboard on the street. It's downstairs in the basement.

No Cover, 300ml bi-ru = ¥600. You'd be there for the football and swanky wood panelling, not the prices.

Two level restaurant bar, with cosy couches upstairs and sidewalk views on level 1. Pretty cool vibe, and reportedly does a decent pizza. Been there a couple of times recently and it has a decent interior, although never seems to be that busy. Good spot for an after dinner drink though if you're dining around kamitori.

Backstreets of Kamitori. Walk up Kamitori (away from Shimotori), hang a right at the end into a narrow side street, just after the Foxy clothes store. Walk up and take the first left, there'll be a hairdressing joint on the left. It's on your right about 15 metres up the road, look for the pinkish street sign out the front.
